Coulombiers

 

The name Coulombiers has it origin in the word « colombarium » which means « a building for pigeons ».
 
This was built as an annexe to the houses of the great land owners for the raising of pigeons for the table. The loardship of Coulombiers passed to several important families during the centuries.     
 
 
In 1944 Coulombiers was the site of an important battle between the German army and the soldiers under the command of General Leclerc.
